JOYCE ANN BISHOP
Joyce Ann Bishop, 83 of Vero Beach, passed away May 2, 2015 at The Brennity of Vero Beach. Born March 6, 1932 in Akron, Ohio to the late Leland E. and Marguerite McKinley Spencer, she graduated from Hood College and worked as a secretary for Buckingham Wheeler Insurance Agency, remaining a homemaker in Vero Beach for the last 58 years. She spent her time as a loving wife, proud mother, and grandmother, great and great-great grandmother. She was an excellent gardener, avid golfer, and a long standing member of the Vero Beach Country Club, where she served on the Board of Directors (1989), volunteered in various Pro-Am events and not only assisted, but participated in various fashion shows. She was First Flight winner (1989) and Women's Club Champion (1974). Preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard T. "Dick" Bishop and her son Bruce Kevin Bishop, she is survived by her sons Geoff, Tim (wife Marie) of Vero Beach, Bob (wife Silvana) of Cornelius, NC and daughter, Christie Ann Curtis (husband Scott) of Midland, NC. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00PM, and a Celebration of her life will follow at 4:00PM, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Memorial Donations may be made to VNA Hospice, the Women's Refuge or honor Joyce and Dick by helping to plant a memorial tree at the Vero Beach Country Club.
